You will serve as an Assistant Inspector General in the Office of the Inspector General, OFFICE OF NAVAL RESEARCH.

Responsibilities

  • You will assist and advise regarding ONR's Managers' Internal Control Program (MICP) to ensure programs and processes are conducted with integrity and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • You will identify and report material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, and best practices associated with ONR's and ONR-Global's programs and processes.
  • You will plan and execute internal reviews and evaluations of programs and develop recommendations to correct deficiencies and improve operational effectiveness.
  • You will report to the ONR Inspector General on all inspection, audit and review matters.
  • You will monitor the implementation of recommendations to ensure resolution of issues and identified problems.
  • You will provide an independent review of ONR Headquarters' responses to all other external reviews and inspections.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05/10 grade level or NO-02 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) performing inspections and/or evaluations in a military or government environment to ensure compliance with applicable requirements and regulations; 2) conducting internal reviews and studies and making recommendations to improve the effectiveness of systems, procedures, policies and utilization of resources; 3) communicating and coordinating with both internal and external parties on program objectives, milestones, findings and conclusions; and, 4) generating written reports to senior leadership containing well-supported findings and recommendations.

Education

The following education may be substituted in order to meet the Minimum Qualifications for this position, however, you will still be required to possess the necessary specialized experience to be found among the Best Qualified:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR, 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR, LL.M., if related; OR, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
