Job Description:

The Assistant Manager, Advertising Design, will create high-level designs for season brochures, direct mail, collateral, institutional publications, digital advertising, and other materials as required by the Kennedy Center. The Assistant Manager will manage and coordinate the schedules of the design team, monitor changes in marketing plans that impact the schedules, scheduling periodic meetings to advance the progress of projects, following up on outstanding information that impact projects, and act as a liaison between the design team and other departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

60% Creating high-level designs on computer for season brochures, direct mail, digital advertising, special events invitations, and other materials while ensuring Brand compatibility. Take the lead on large projects such as Kennedy Center News.

10% Reviewing job requests submitted through Robohead to determine that all required assets have been submitted and following up on any outstanding issues.

10% Assigning work to the design team and monitoring changes in marketing plans that may impact the schedules.

5% Scheduling periodic internal meetings to advance the progress of projects and checking in on timelines to assure deadlines are being met.

5% Attending weekly production meetings and keeping project statuses up-to-date in Robohead.

10% Act as the design representative at project meetings with other departments to request information and answer questions.

N/A Responds to the needs and requests of Kennedy Center management and staff in a professional and expedient manner; Adheres to all employer policies and procedures; Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education in graphic design/advertising
  • Minimum of 5 years professional related experience
  • Must provide a portfolio that demonstrates ability and experience
  • Proficiency in desktop publishing software (Adobe Creative Cloud) in a PC environment
  • Proficiency in layout and design and computer-generated artwork production and have working knowledge of four-color printing process

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in person and on the telephone. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel in order to operate computer keyboard, office equipment, and other essential tasks. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach with hands and arms. This position infrequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

The noise level in the work environment is low.

No travel is required for this position.
