Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems, networks and data through the planning, processing, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of information systems security, programs, policies, procedures and tools for the agency.
  • Execute and support the agency's certification and accreditation programs.
  • Serve as a technical expert regarding vulnerability assessments and security audits.
  • Assist in the implementation of the agency's Information Assurance (IA) program.
  • Develop policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and prevent and defend against unauthorized systems, networks and data.
  • Evaluate emerging business requirements to recommend application products and services to ensure total infrastructure protection.

Qualifications

Per OPM's qualification standards, https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/2200/information-technology-it-management-series-2210-alternative-a/ , to qualify for this position you must possess the following, by the closing date of this announcement:

One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 grade level that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To be creditable, specialized experience must be at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector.

Creditable specialized experience includes:
  • Apply IT principles, concepts, methods, standards and practices as well as the infrastructure protection program to accomplish assignments such as developing long-range plans for IT security systems.
  • Anticipate, identify, evaluate, mitigate and minimize risks associated with IT systems vulnerabilities.
  • Utilize vulnerability assessment tools such as ACAS, WebInspect, Nessus, DISA Gold Disk, and HBBS and analyze the results.
  • Design and perform security audits.
  • Plan and coordinate the development of specification to meet the security requirements of the agency, Local Area Network (LAN) or Wide Area Network (WAN) levels.
