Responsibilities

  • The incumbent works under the leadership of the AA for the Office of STEM Engagement leading and managing the $110M+ portfolio of STEM Engagement projects appropriated by Congress.
  • The incumbent leads a division responsible for management and execution of SpaceGrant, EPSCOR, Minority University Research and Education and the NextGen STEM projects involving direct support to students, universities, and educational institutions.
  • The incumbent ensures that the projects continue to work in close collaboration with the Mission Directorates to create opportunities for students to contribute to NASA's missions and work.
  • The incumbent takes positive steps to support the accomplishment of affirmative action objectives and adheres to nondiscriminatory employment practices in all areas under his/her supervision.

Qualifications

To qualify, candidates must have the skill and ability to perform the duties described above as demonstrated by progressively responsible supervisory/managerial experience, normally with several years at the GS-15 level or equivalent, which demonstrates clearly the ability to manage people and resources.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

1. Demonstrated experience leading a large enterprise that involves leading people and organizations accountable for planning and operations of an integrated and complex set of functions, initiatives, and projects involving multiple entities and/or organizations.

2. Experience in providing leadership, technical, and programmatic direction of an organization with multiple endeavors involving support to students, universities, and formal and informal educational institutions.

3. Demonstrated experience, knowledge, and expertise in program management, including program planning, formulation and implementation, and managing financial and human resources and operations of large, complex programs.
