The Manager of Public Relations/Marketing at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville is responsible for the hospital's day-to-day public relations, communications and marketing activities. The manager serves on the hospital's leadership team, developing and executing an integrated marketing and communications plan that supports Shady Grove's strategic initiatives. This team member in this role is responsible for creating and maintaining a cohesive, positive public image for the hospital through community and media relations, employee and executive communications, and issues/crisis communications management. In addition, the manager serves as the point of contact for media inquiries and supports branding and advertising strategies for the hospital and the Adventist HealthCare system. This role reports to and collaborates closely with the hospital's Director of Public Relations/Marketing to keep key stakeholders well informed of marketing and communications efforts and results.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage internal communications for hospital including (but not limited to) drafting of memos, letters and other communications for executives; story development, writing and photography for the employee newsletter; writing and editing of patient education materials; and other communications as needed.
• Support marketing activities for the hospital. Develop concepts for advertising campaigns, assist with ad buys, coordinate photo shoots, develop collateral materials, manage social media accounts, and create content for website, blog and community publications.
• Support media relations activities for hospital including serving as a point of contact for reporters, photographers and other media representatives; coordinating interviews; writing news releases; preparing spokespersons; and writing proactive and reactive media messages and talking points.
• Assist in crisis communications and participate in on-call media rotation for the Adventist HealthCare system.
• Plan and execute community events with key stakeholders, serving as the hospital's lead representative.
• Safeguard corporate brand standards
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English or marketing.
• Minimum of three years' experience in public relations, marketing, communications or journalism, preferably in healthcare.
• Must have strong writing skills and be comfortable with public speaking.
• Experience pitching stories to media and developing media strategy.
• Experience in managing social media platforms.
• Ability to handle multiple projects at once and work in a team environment.
• Strong customer service skills
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
• Experience writing and editing newsletters/magazines.
• Comfort working in a hospital setting. Understanding of healthcare preferred.

Work Schedule:

M-F, with occasional evenings and weekends.
