The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) provides global leadership in research, training, and education to prevent and treat heart, lung, blood and sleep disorders. The NHLBI is convening a Cure Sickle Cell Disease Initiative (CureSCi), aimed at finding innovative ways to support discovery and development of efficacious genetic therapeutic approaches and bring them to scale in clinical populations to accelerate finding curative treatments for Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). The NHLBI is working with Emmes to establish a Coordinating Center (CC) for the CureSCi and to engage key staff of this initiative.

In collaboration with the project team, the Administrative Coordinator is primarily responsible for attending all Cure Sickle Cell Initiative meetings and drafting minutes and agendas. Other administrative responsibilities are outlined below.


  • Attend all internal and external CureSCi meetings (5-10 meetings per week)
  • Accurately and quickly transcribe meeting minutes utilizing Temi transcription software
  • Draft agendas for all internal and external CureSCi meetings
  • Interact professionally with external partners
  • Draft progress reports to management and funding agencies
  • Demonstrate understanding of project and corporate SOPs by producing work in compliance with corporate SOPs: Maintains documentation required by corporate and project SOPs
  • Participate in project process improvement and corporate quality assurance activities through Internal Quality Audit Team (IQAT), project SOP and Compliance/Variance table development, participation of internal and external audits, and professional development activities
  • General support activities including producing and managing study documentation, organizing project conference calls and meetings, maintaining database content, coordinating project communications, developing project processes, and facilitating preparation, completion, and tracking of contract deliverables
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree in a life science, social science or equivalent years of experience with a minimum of 2 years of scientific minutes writing
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience in writing and the preparation of scientific and medical documentation
  • Excellent English grammar skills
  • Ability to summarize complex discussions into summary reports
  • PC proficiency and strong skills in Microsoft programs
  • Excellent editing and oral communication skills, and the ability to communicate to a wide audience
  • Independent decision-making and the ability to make good judgements
  • Creativity and strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong task and time management skills
