Job Description

The Performance Marketing Manager is primarily responsible for achieving specific outcomes for preferred partners, with a focus on digital execution and optimization. This role will work closely with all relevant teams in target-setting as well as post-campaign evaluations. This is a supervisory role, overseeing the Performance Marketing Analyst. The right candidate will have experience in a supervisory capacity with a track record of nurturing and growing talent. They will have proven success in developing and executing multi-faceted digital marketing campaigns. They will also have a track record of presenting to and communicating with clients directly. Additionally, this person will have a keen interest in keeping the business abreast of emerging technologies and developments in the digital industry and sharing that knowledge and information with relevant partners at The Washington Post.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Playing a leading role in the development and management of scalable multi-touch campaigns and high-quality acquisition programs across The Washington Post's many platforms
  • Ensuring that performance account projects are delivered in a timely manner and that they are always in line with the business's guidelines, quality standards, and objectives
  • Management of Performance Marketing Analyst whom executes and reports on performance marketing campaigns
  • Collaboration with the sales, operations, yield management, and any other relevant department in an effort to optimize programs and campaigns based on the real-time performance and ROI
  • Working directly with clients to align performance to KPIs important to them
  • Overseeing tracking and reporting


Requirements Include:
  • Deep understanding of the digital advertising landscape. Should understand the mechanics of programmatic (DSP, SSP, etc) and direct buying. Should also be well versed in strategy/tactics in each stage of the acquisition funnel
  • 7-10 years of experience working in digital marketing. Experience at an ad agency is preferred
  • Supervisory experience a must
  • Strong quantitative analytical skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under deadline pressure
  • Ability to learn quickly and to thoroughly understand the operations, revenue/cost structures and market conditions of The Washington Post newspaper, washingtonpost.com and RED engineering and ad tech team
  • Demonstrated ability with systematically analyzing and solving problems
  • Proficiency with DCM and DFP
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Experience engaging with external stakeholders i.e. clients, partners, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to define/undertake work assignments with minimal supervision
  • Evidence of good judgment, creativity, inquisitiveness and perseverance in past work or educational experience
  • Experience using Microsoft office systems (proficiency in Excel a must)
  • Ability to mine incomplete data
  • Knowledge of Washington Post products (desired)
  • Presentation skills (desired)
