The Manager supervises staff and acts as a resource to front line staff for education/staff development functions as well as designated management functions to promote high quality, cost effective health care. Manages day to day operating functions within the Case Management Department

Responsibilities:
• Assists and supervises Case Managers in developing workflow/function and prioritizing patient care
• Directs Performance Improvement projects as indicated
• Manages master schedule for vacation request, weekend and on call coverage
• Works collaboratively with other disciplines in problem analysis and resolution for pathways, protocols and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to include physicians, healthcare team, community providers, insurers, county services and others
• Direct utilization review activities to effectively secure reimbursement for the care provided in the hospital
• Manages departmental staff within established budget to facilitate effective services including recruiting, hiring, training, supervising and appropriate staffing

Requirements:
• Current Maryland RN license
• 5 years or more of acute medical hospital case management experience
• Preferred prior supervision of direct reports
• Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including collaboration and ability to relate to other disciplines
• Effective use of time management skills to multitask, manage staff, manage relationships with post-acute providers and gather resources for the department.
• Excellent computer skills and the ability to manage computer files, operate office equipment and use of HER
• Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws that govern health care and case management
• Ability to apply interviewing skills like active listening, open ended questions, etc. to elicit answers that can assist in the patient's care
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA at all times
