Web Developer Government Scientific Source, GSS, the leading dedicated distributor of laboratory products and equipment to federal, state, and local governments seeks a highly skilled and innovative Web Developer who excels in creating and maintaining engaging and scalable interfaces. The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of designing, developing, implementing, and managing user-friendly, visually engaging, shopping cart-enabled websites. As part of a highly collaborative team that is overhauling our ecommerce-focused website, the web developer will help build out requirements, layouts, and designs to create an aesthetically pleasing, functional, SEO-optimized, easy-to-navigate, and mobile-friendly web presence. This role requires strong attention to detail, superior verbal and written communication skills, and responsive supplier relationship management skills as you interface with numerous suppliers in regularly uploading extensive product data and images. Job Duties (include but not limited to): Work closely with GSS team members to build out requirements to overhaul website, focusing on a new user-friendly catalog format with product specifications, and an excellent shopping and purchasing experience that will lead to more sales from government customers in scientific roles. Use CSS 3, HTML 5, JavaScript, WordPress, Drupal, SQL frequently to build, refresh and maintain website functions and content Gather product information including product images by contacting suppliers. Ensure product information has consistent and accurate formatting. Upload content in a timely manner and keep all content current by regular contact with suppliers. Design compelling monthly data reports including Google Analytics metrics of website performance, marketing campaign performance and social media metrics. Ensure high-performance and 24/7/365 website availability to customers and manage all aspects of the content management system (CMS). Find creative solutions to requirements that can be accomplished within budget and timeline. Use internally developed artificial intelligence to gather product specifications for more than 4 million scientific products, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Help formulate and implement a creative effective, and responsive design, including new features and functionality, such as live chat, etc. Desire to continually learn additional technical skills and techniques. Job Requirements: Bachelor's Degree required in related field. Strong experience and knowledge of website design, development, user experience (UX), architecture, and maintenance of day-to-day operations. Good understanding of front-end technologies, including CSS 3, HTML 5, JavaScript, WordPress, Drupal, SQL. Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI. Exceptional attention to detail and highly organized. Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills. Experience in the scientific industry and strong knowledge of government agencies and the procurement process is a plus.
