Integrated Communications and Marketing (ICM) is a multimedia, service-focused communications and marketing operation that leads in shaping the impression of AARP by providing communications planning, marketing, support and execution for AARP's strategic business units.
Summary

Leads the community engagement strategy for major social media accounts, along with the execution and implementation of the social content calendar and social media copywriting on behalf of the brand. Works to ensure maximum engagement and exposure for content on AARP's social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. This position reports into the Director, Social Media and Content Integration.
Responsibilities
  • Leads the community engagement strategy, planning, and day-to-day execution of the social media editorial calendar for AARP's brand profiles on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram, while aligning to AARP enterprise priorities.
  • Provides valuable strategic communications, as needed to proactively share ideas, opportunities, and best practices on a regular basis.
  • Manages social scheduling, copywriting, and publishing to platforms.
  • Serves as the primary liaison with social creative teams (in-house, agency, etc.) with respect to the social media calendar.
  • Maintains the AARP brand voice on established and emerging social platforms.
  • Drafts social copy that effectively communicates and engages AARP's audience across multiple platforms.
  • Grows key metrics and provides reporting in line with AARP's overall social media goals and strategy.
  • Drive brand equity.
  • Analyzes content performance and provides constructive guidance to better engage communities.
  • Advises on content strategy, if/when appropriate.
  • Works closely with the social response/customer care team.
  • Reports on the health, growth, and evolution of AARP communities.
  • Stays current on industry trends and technological developments, all while applying the best thinking and practices to AARP's social communication.
Requirements
  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline (advanced degree preferred) and 5+ years of experience in managing social media platforms for a variety of clients at an agency or large, complex organization, including copywriting, publishing, calendar management, and paid media.
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to develop and manage social content calendars for multiple stakeholders and audiences.
  • Deep expertise in social media copywriting and growing/engaging social communities for large organizations and/or brands.
  • Possesses a strong client-service orientation and account management skills.
  • Demonstrates an excellent understanding of, and ability to work within, organizational politics, networks, and a matrix management system.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills (e.g., listening, negotiating, facilitating, managing conflict, flexibility).
  • Exceptional ability to foster solid business relationships.
  • Demonstrates a strong working knowledge and understanding of social communications platforms, blogs, microblogs, mobile, user-generated sites, etc.
  • Possess a test and learn mentality - a data-driven mindset with experience A/B testing content.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to quality and accuracy -- strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively problem solve, lead, manage, train, and collaborate with a multi-disciplined team.
  • Mastery of third-party scheduling tools such as Sprinklr, Hootsuite, Spredfast, and third-party project management tools, including Air Table and Asana.
