Job Description

The Digital Inventory and Pricing Analyst will be part of our very lean Digital Yield Management team who is responsible for supporting Sales and managing pricing and inventory with one goal in mind: continuously help maximize digital advertising revenue across The Washington Post's digital platforms. This position will be responsible for helping to monitor and forecast inventory levels, assisting campaign optimization and supporting the sales team. The candidate must understand the business model of digital advertising, have excellent analytical skills, and possess expertise in manipulating, analyzing and reporting on data from various sources and tools. This position will report directly into Director of Yield Management and will be based in our DC office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Help develop operational and executive dashboards to drive informed decision-making across the company
  • Provide recommendations for new sales opportunities and campaign optimizations collaborating with cross functional groups including Product, Client Solutions, Ad Ops, and Sales
  • Support various initiatives to continuously improve digital yield management team's revenue and inventory management processes (E.g. Improve forecast accuracy, standardize and automate ad hoc reporting)
  • Use historical and pipeline information to forecast sales demand in highly requested areas and sponsorships
  • Map unique visits and page views to sellable ad impressions across desktop and mobile devices
  • Build impression and revenue models to provide forecast across multiple platforms and targets
  • Review and improve inventory model accuracy
  • Monitor forecasting tools in order to ensure accuracy of products and functionality of system
  • Analyze digital capacity trends, assess inventory risks and issues, and identify root-cause
  • Reporting
  • Manage inventory reports and communicate inventory landscape across business unit stakeholders, including digital sales, ad operations, finance, research, and ad product, etc.


Qualifications:
  • The Washington Post digital ad product offering, value proposition, pricing, and policies
  • Inventory structure and overlaps
  • Advertiser/agency to Sales teams' sales objectives and goals
  • Ad technology stack: Inventory management, order management, ad server, business intelligence, sales planning tool and yield reporting tools
  • Order management process: pre and post sales tasks from sales proposal pitch to IO billing
  • BA/BS Degree
  • 2+ years of digital media experience in yield management, ad operations, and/or data analytics
  • Understanding of Media Math
  • Familiarity with YieldEx, Lotame, Operative and/or Salesforce.com
  • Experience Working with Ad Sales Pricing Policies and Guidelines
  • Excellent Organizational Skills, Ability to Prioritize Work and Meet Deadlines
  • Able to Manage Multiple Priorities Concurrently and Work Effectively Under Pressure
  • Self-Motivated and Able to Work with Minimum Supervision
