Job Details

The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) seeks a highly qualified, energetic, and professional maintenance technician. This position's primary objective is to oversee and actively manage all aspects of the AEI building, including keeping property equipment functioning and in good repair, keeping premises presentable by performing tasks primarily with the senior building engineer, and assisting other facilities staff as needed.

Primary responsibilities of the maintenance technician include maintaining all property maintenance records, performing preventative and scheduled maintenance inspections and repairs, and ensuring life-safety systems are operational. This person will perform maintenance and repair activities on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

The technician will work primarily with building engineers and work in tandem with all AEI departments on issues related to maintaining the building. This person will respond to and resolve tenant service work order requests such as lighting, plumbing, heating and cooling, and any other building problems as needed. Having the ability to work effectively under pressure, manage concurrent tasks with multiple deadlines, and quickly adapt in a flexible and versatile way to rapidly changing priorities is a must. This position is designated as "essential personnel," which requires that employees report to work during emergency situations and occasionally requires overtime, weekend, and holiday work. The technicians schedule will also be affected by AEI events that require monitoring of HVAC systems.

The technician must have a high school diploma or general education degree, experience using Microsoft Office programs, and the ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Hospitality experience or a related field is a plus. The ideal candidate speaks effectively with organization customers or employees, works well in a fast-paced environment, and has extensive experience working in a building or facilities management role. Qualified candidates should submit an online application at www.aei.org/jobs, complete with a resume and brief statement of interest.
