The Search Engineer will be responsible for the technical implementations and support of search farms (content crawls, security, performance, etc.), search applications, and related 3rd party controls. This role will leverage SharePoint search administration and search development skills to support and implement customizations to the DAU search applications leveraging SharePoint Search, Business Data Connectivity service, as well as, 3rd party search connectors, classifiers, and web services. Responsibilities:Monitor the day-to-day and monthly health & security of the search applications ensuring that users are finding relevant results and content permissions are always appliedGiven existing search infrastructure, provide and implement solutions for system optimization and scalability.Troubleshoot and resolve issues in SharePoint search applications and related technologiesTroubleshoot and resolve custom SharePoint application issuesWork in collaboration with developers to continually optimize the performance of the search engine.Perform Search Resulting Tuning (Relevancy ranking, keyword rules, thesaurus)Maintain 3rd party suite of products including: Cardiolog, Google metrics tools, Nintex,; Search Query ToolImplement Search enhancements leveraging technologies such as: REST / JSON / JQUERY / HTML, CSS and JavaScriptAutomate common search related tasks (health and usage reporting, provision of search service application, new managed properties, etc.) using Microsoft PowerShellParticipate in determining the technical roadmap and strategy for selected search productsCollaborate with Enterprise Systems Team to ensure and validate that the search applications, indexes, and servers are running effectively, updated appropriately, secured, and supported.Participate in search-related Proof of ConceptsKeep apprised of new features for the specific suite of search products under managementStrong understanding of best indexing practices, Content Acquisition strategies, incremental/delta updatesStrong understanding of Search operations and operation design.Strong debugging and troubleshooting skillsStrong Understanding of search engine administration tasks such as creating collections, configuring document processing, managing search profiles and managing index profilesShould be able to Integrate search engine content with various data sourcesClear understanding of client-server functionality and web browser technologySome working knowledge of systems and network administrationKnowledge of data integration and processing including extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).Must be detail oriented and a self-starterMulti-tasking with good follow through skillsAbility to work well in a team environmentAbility to work alone without supervisionBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar field7+ years experience with search engine configuration and optimization7+ Years experience with SharePoint programming/administration, server-side technologies including Apache, PHP, Java, client-side technologies including JavaScript, CSS, and DBMS (MS SQL)Experience with development, testing toolsExperience with public key infrastructure (PKI)Experience with Azure Services Clearance Requirement: Public Trust Location: This position will be based out of our client site in Ft.
