**The Kennedy Center is searching for a temporary research assistant to conduct research and evaluation activities within the Education division from August 2019 through May 2020.**

The Kennedy Center, which opened on September 8, 1971, is located on 17 acres overlooking the Potomac River in Washington, D.C. The Center continues its efforts to fulfill President Kennedy's vision by producing and presenting an unmatched variety of theater and musicals, dance and ballet, orchestral, chamber, jazz, popular, world, and folk music, and multimedia performances for all ages.

Job Description:

The Research Assistant aides in all research and evaluation activities within the purview of the Education Division including literature reviews, data collection (i.e., instruments, surveys, interviews, focus groups), data entry and coding, and providing written summaries and reports of work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

25% Collect data

25% Data entry and coding

25% Literature reviews

25% Reports

N/A Responds to the needs and requests of Kennedy Center management and staff in a professional and expedient manner; Adheres to all employer policies and procedures; Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of experience in the field of research and/or evaluation.
  • Experience within the field of education or social sciences preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Art Industry and Education Standards preferred.
  • Skills in promoting process improvements preferred.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency in the use of statistical analysis software such as, SPSS, R, or M-Plus preferred.
  • Ability to work in U.S. without requiring sponsorship

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in person and via electronic communication. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel in order to operate computer keyboard, office equipment, and other essential tasks. The employee is frequently required to sit. This position very infrequently, of ever, lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

The space in the Research and Evaluation office supports 6 employees working in an open-plan office. The noise level is consistent with most an office environment requiring computer based work, with the occasional phone call or meeting.

Travel up to 10% may be required.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
