Summary

This position is located in the Office of the General Counsel(OGC) , Executive Office for Immigration Review, U. S. Department of Justice. Incumbent serves as the Attorney-Advisor, Fraud and Abuse Prevention Program, leads activities in the development and administration of procedures to detect immigration fraud.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Provides technical guidance to EOIR personnel as a recognized legal consultant and expert on fraud and Abuse Prevention.
  • Oversee the planning, direction, and management of the Fraud and Abuse Prevention Program.
  • Identifies, accepts, and articulates complaints of suspected immigration fraud.
  • Initiates and conducts investigations and research to determine the nature of the complaint and to verify or disprove said referrals.
  • Serve as lead attorney/team lead, coaching, facilitating and mentoring staff in the communication of assignments, projects, problems to be solved, actionable events, milestones and/or program issues under review; integration of work processes and products; and deadlines and time frames of completion.
  • Serve as the agency expert, program manager, and representative regarding immigration fraud within the Department of Justice, and in relation to DHS and its components, and other federal and state agencies, in making critical legal judgments.
  • Develops and proposes actions, policies, and program changes in response to changes in federal law, regulations, and Department of Justice orders and policies affecting the Fraud and Abuse Prevention Program.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for the Attorney Advisor (Fraud Counsel) position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Must possess a LLB or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
AND
Must be a U.S. citizen.
AND
Must be an active member of the bar in good standing, duly licensed and authorized to practice law as an attorney under the laws of a U.S. state, territory, Puerto Rico, or the District of Columbia. (You must include your date of admission to the bar in your resume.)
AND
Must have a full four (4) years of post J.D. professional legal experience.

In addition to the minimum qualification requirements, applicant must submit a writing sample which demonstrates their ability to author legal documents (not to exceed 10 pages).

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
