To apply, please visit: https://careers.arlingtonva.us/ ARLINGTON COUNTY, VIRGINIA GOVERNMENT Arlington County's Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking a Rehabilitation Therapist to join its therapy services team in the Parent-Infant Education (PIE) program. This position is responsible for providing developmental screenings and assessments, developing Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP), providing early intervention services to families of infants and toddlers, assisting with IFSP service coordination, and collaborating with other therapy providers and agencies using a primary provider model for service delivery as part of the PIE program. PIE is a family-centered program that serves children who have special needs from birth to their third birthday. The PIE program is part of the statewide early intervention program known as the Infant Toddler Connection of Virginia, and is also known locally as the Infant Toddler Connection of Arlington. PIE's primary provider model requires the employee to be the main source of guidance and information for each family served as well as providing support to other providers who may need assistance from someone of another discipline, and will receive similar support from therapists of other disciplines such as speech and physical therapists. Specific duties include: Providing Early Intervention services to families of infants and toddlers to mitigate the impact of developmental delay and/or disability on the child and family's daily life; Serving as a primary provider to customers and providing support to other staff; Completing functional assessments of children found eligible for Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) for accurate service plans to be written; Providing service coordination activities such as intakes, facilitating, assessments, writing IFSPs and locating services for families in the program; and Participating in IFSP meetings as a direct service provider and service coordinator/case manager. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING: Experience providing intervention to infants ages 0-3 years; Experience providing services and/or holding Virginia certification as an Early Intervention Professional, Early Intervention Specialist, or Early Intervention Case Manager, governed by Part C of the IDEA; Providing therapy services in a child's natural environment; and/or Designing and leading trainings/presentations on elements of early intervention best practices in Virginia.
