Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a system administrator in providing technical support for the agency. This includes the following responsibilities: providing ongoing multi-media, audio visual (AV) and technical system support, customer and staff member support, and new media applications including the cybersecurity and maintenance aspects of the agency's website.

The incumbent must also ensure compliance with statutory rules and regulations, Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) standards and practices, Office of Management and Budget (OMB) security requirements and the President's open government initiative.

Follow information security policies, methods, standards, Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA/National Institutes of Standard and Technology (NIST) standards and practices to organizational information systems, IT reference materials and interpret regulations.

Provide technical guidance and customer support to users.Prepare, coordinates, and implements policy (including Section 508) and procedures for hardware and software applications system operation. Develop comprehensive instruction for operation of system components. Provide guidance and technical assistance in use and capabilities of the system.

Incumbent is responsible for ensuring the agency's cybersecurity practices are compliant with the Federal Information Security Administration Act (FISMA). Develops and oversees internal agency protocols related to FISMA and trains staff on protocols, as necessary. Actively tracks and responds to updates related to FISMA as issued by the Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Congress, and other federal entities with FISMA oversight. Coordinates with and authorizes DHS to deploy technology on agency networks to audit FISMA compliance and to ensure the safety and security of the network. Incumbent leads preparation and submission of cybersecurity reports and responds to cybersecurity inquiries, as necessary.

Serve as the "Webmaster" for the agency. In that capacity, acts as the principal advisor and technical authority on all matters concerning the Internet.

Perform the necessary research, planning, application, design, development, administration, maintenance, refinement and/or accessibility of any patron/customer to the ACUS internet or intranet presence.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level(s) in which you are applying:

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service performing the following: (
1) training staff on protocols related to Federal Information Security Administration Act (FISMA); (2) developing proposals to enhance operational use of systems, hardware and software; (3) ensuring that an agency's cybersecurity practices are complaint with the Federal Information Security Administration Act (FISMA); and (4) performing functionality test on hardware and software systems to ensure efficiency and reliability on servers.

Physical Demands: Work is primarily sedentary, although there may be some carrying of books, printouts, manuals, files, and equipment. The work does not require any special physical effort.

Work Environment: Work is performed in a typical office setting with adequate lighting, heating, and ventilation. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions.
