Responsibilities

  • Serve as a principal, lead or support contact for coordination, implementation, and enforcement of information and cybersecurity policies. Implement higher-level security, audit, compliance, and cybersecurity operational requirements.
  • Integrate security programs across multiple disciplines; define the scope and level of detail for security plans and policies.
  • Assess new systems design methodologies to improve systems and software quality; lead or perform implementation, security audit and remediation activities.
  • Assist in developing long-range plans for IT security systems, review new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks; and resolve integration issues related to the implementation of new systems with existing infrastructure.
  • Support cybersecurity operations, network, and application monitoring to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the IT infrastructure and sensitive information.
  • Identify, prepare and document cybersecurity requirements to improve the FDA Cybersecurity Program. Deliver information to senior leadership via formal briefings and decision papers.
  • Coordinate cybersecurity requirements necessary to identify, assess, plan and management acquisition support to the FDA Cybersecurity Program.

THIS POSITION REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING CERTIFICATION: CERTIFIED INFORMATION SYSTEMS SECURITY PROFESSIONAL (CISSP)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

(GS-2210-13/14) , you must meet the following requirements...

  • Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
    You must possess one year (52-weeks) of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal service.
    Such experience includes: IT experience completing assignments related to the security of information systems. This could include: (1) applying multiple security principles, practices, and procedures in an administration of an information security program; (2) identifying needs for changes based on new security technologies or threats; and/or (3) guiding response to user problems by analyzing and resolving incidents or breakdowns; and/or (4) producing communication.

    You must possess one year (52-weeks) of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-13) in the Federal service.
