Summary

The Office of Enforcement Operations (OEO) oversees the use of the most sophisticated investigative tools at the Department's disposal. The Office also processes all requests for Criminal Division records made pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA), and assists U.S. Attorneys' Offices in advocating the Division's position in civil litigation filed under these statutes.

Responsibilities

As a Supervisory Government Information Specialist (FOIA/PA), you duties will including:
  • Serving as the point of contact for personnel to resolve questions relating to FOIA/PA requests;
  • Supervising proper maintenance of the conventional Reading Room and Electronic Reading Room;
  • Serving as the point of contact with the public, speaking on a daily basis with requestors who have questions or concerns about the processing of their requests;
  • Training new team members and providing guidance on all aspects of FOIA/PA processing;
  • Processing routine and complex FOIA/PA requests for access to records maintained by the Criminal Division;
  • Applying familiarity with the Criminal Division's organizational structure to ensure that all information maintained by any agency component that falls within the scope of a FOIA/PA request has been located and retrieved;
  • Developing standard forms, letters, procedures and training materials for use by the office; and
  • Consulting and coordinating with the Office of Information Policy and other components on procedural problems.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-12 grade level. Examples of specialized experience include: reviewing and providing input on the work of junior level FOIA/PA specialists; processing complex FOIA/PA requests; serving as the point of contact for FOIA/PA filers; and providing advice and guidance on unprecedented issues related to the Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Acts.

Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements for consideration by the closing date of this announcement.
