The Construction Planner prepares for new and upgrade construction projects to service residential and commercial customers by obtaining access and right-of-way (ROW) agreements. Creating efficient route designs and estimating costs. Performs field engineering for proposed residential and commercial projects. Ensures backbone is available for launch and/or deployment of products by planning and coordinating construction products. May plan the splicing of coax and fiber optics, as well as the allocation and activation of fiber. Essential Functions of the position:Performs field engineering of proposed projects and ensures alternative routing delivers the most cost effective design for construction. Coordinates contractor work, obtains permits and access or ROW agreements, distributes design prints and other essential working documents. Negotiates and approves design or construction modifications. Researches and reviews plans, gathers necessary data and listing material requirements for projects.Estimates construction costs, prepares budgets, and track expenses.Confirms serviceability, surveys proposed service routing, and estimates material, construction, and labor costs. Initiates customer contacts, secures access or ROW agreements, completes route designs, and takes necessary steps to meet customer needs.May order materials or coordinate with administrative personnel.Verifies and reconciles invoices.Maintains records and files in accordance to established filing system. Plans and allocate fibers for splicing and activation.Inspects construction work or coordinate inspection assignments.Releases addresses as serviceable and notifies other departments of serviceability.Performs tasks to close out projects in database, reconciles assets, and generate reports upon completion of projects.Performs research for special projects as needed.Performs other duties as assigned. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Skills/Abilities and Knowledge: Ability to quickly identify business problems/opportunities. Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner. Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel. Ability to document, prepare and present data-driven presentations. Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure. Ability to manage multiple projects at one time.Ability to prioritize and organize effectively. Ability to show judgment and initiative and to accomplish job duties. Ability to use personal computer & software applications (ie Word, Excel, etc.). Education High School Diploma or GED required. Related Work Experience Three to five years project management experience. Three to five years telecommunications experience.
