Mechanical Engineer
Key Role:

Shape the development of next generation energy technologies that increase efficiency or reduce emissions by leading the design of government R&D programs and evaluation of novel technology concepts as an aerospace engineer on our team. Broaden your skill set into areas, including wind turbine design and optimization, controls engineering, and offshore engineering and apply knowledge of energy market considerations. Grow your skills by merging aerospace engineering, controls engineering, and systems engineering to create next generation energy technology programs, including electric aviation, wind, and marine hydrokinetic energy systems. Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience with postdoctoral, academic, or industry roles pertaining to the design or optimization of aerospace systems, including wind turbines or related aerospace systems, such as helicopters and rotor design

-Ability to perform domestic travel between 10% - 15% of the time

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-PhD degree

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with wind modeling and simulation software

-Experience with wind and water tunnel experimentation for validation of aerospace systems, including extrapolation of results to full scale

-Experience with researching controls engineering, including applications involving non-linear, coupled dynamics, such as aero-, hydro-, elastic-, and servo-dynamics

-Experience with MATLAB or Simulink and their modeling, identification, and control toolboxes

-Experience with the design, optimization, or control of marine propulsion systems, including propellers

-Experience in a consulting environment preferred

-Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

-Ability to exhibit flexibility and adaptability and work in a collaborative team environment

-Ability to be a proactive problem solver and work independently

-Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively

-Possession of excellent client service, organizational, analytical, and time management skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering, ME, or a related engineering field
