Professional Development Specialist/Instructional Coach

We are in search of a passionate academic professional to serve as the Professional Development Specialist/Instructional Coach (PDS). Under the supervision of the Principal, the PDS will manage professional development sessions, trainings, and on-going improvement, which includes instructional delivery for new initiatives and identified areas of need. The PDS serves as an instructional coach for faculty members in the development of instructional delivery and orientation. The PDS also works with seasoned faculty members in areas of identified need.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates professional development training for faculty during New Faculty Orientation and school-wide staff development throughout the year

  • Maintains data and records related to instruction and professional development to support school advancement and for a variety of needs to include, annual reports, compliance reviews, and Accreditation.

  • Works one on one or in small groups of teachers to implement new initiatives or to give extra support as identified by the academic manager; including lesson planning, gathering appropriate resources and materials and the utilization of sound data to support instruction

  • Observes teachers and provides oral and written feedback, as well as, additional support through co-teaching or model-teaching as needed

  • Responsible for remaining up-to-date on professional development opportunities and resources that support staff in their professional growth.

  • Conducts research, vets, and shares pedagogically sound technology tools that support classroom instruction and supports instructional staff with appropriate training in the use of technology tools

  • Responsible for organizing and facilitating study circle and partnering with cohort leads to deliver and monitor mentorship programs

  • Coordinates the Professional Development Advisory Committee Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in a related field and a minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching ESL and training content teaching to teachers.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult education theory and knowledge of Workforce Development techniques

  • Experience working in Adult Education preferred

  • Prior successful experience delivering professional development and coaching teachers

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and coordinate with external partners to address identified internal professional development needs

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, G-suite, and other internet-based applications

  • Excellent professional and effective oral and written communications skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and to be self-motivated

  • A deep commitment to CRIPCS's core values and ability to model those values in

    relationships with colleagues and partners

    Schedule Requirements: Must be available to work two evenings a week during the academic school year
