WHO WE ARE: Strum Contracting Company (SCC) is a dedicated team of professionals supporting our client needs with both the periodic manufacturing of small steel components and the installation/welding of components in the field and generally specific to bridge remediation and/or rail systems.For more than 30 years, we have provided high quality service to our clients by performing with integrity, innovation and quality.Our core markets include welding and fabrication in support of: heavy civil projects to include remediation of bridges and tunnels; support of excavation (SoE) for large diameter pipe; rail transportation systems; and the emerging marketplace for Offshore Wind development specific to welding, fabrication and site preparation for the manufacturing and installation of wind turbine components. SCC is a Maryland-certified Small Minority Business Enterprise (S/MBE) and also certified as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) by the US Department of Transportation. Over 90% of our projects are secured as a subcontractor through public bid and a negotiated scope of work. Our project activity ranges from very short-term providing will call welding and up to two years of performance for major public works projects. JOB TYPE: Full-timeESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Collaborates with engineers, design professionals, or others, to confirm the of the project specificationsNegotiate contracts with external suppliers/vendors to reach profitable agreementsObtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities, when requiredDefine the resources required for successful completion (eg, manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitationsAcquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequaciesPlan all field operations with performance milestones and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met; prepare weekly reports highlighting any concerns, current or emerging barriers to an on-time/on-budget contract closeMake recommendations to COO for the hiring of additional staff and providing the onboarding training with frequent review of field performance; recommend retraining and/or after-hours shop practice, when believed to be a workable solutionAllocate responsibilities for project support between and Senior PM, Project Engineer, QC and/or Safety Officer.
