PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Miami Wiipica, LLC General Manager contractor looking for a dynamic, energetic, Estimator experienced in State and Federal government and commercial projects who welcomes the challenge of joining our team. The requirements needed are specified below, experience in Project Management a plus. We offer competitive pay; salary is depending on experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Analyze plans, specs, construction notes, details and perform quantity take offs for use in bid proposalsAssess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.Review specifications and construction drawings in the development of scopes of work including identifying required scopes/trades and quantitiesReview contracts prior to bid to ensure that terms, conditions, exclusions, and qualifications included in the owner's contract are appropriately addressed in the cost estimateEstimate self-performed and subcontractor performed work, pricing the labor, equipment, and material costs Coordinate, obtain, and review vendor and subcontractor quotations prior to bid Perform or coordinate quantity takeoff, assembling direct cost estimate and analyzing alternate construction methods/resources to determine and improve cost effectiveness Review design options and/or recommend best solution/alternative based on cost-effectiveness, value engineering or availability of materials Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction superintendent to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors-Capability to prepare detailed line item estimates Job Qualifications and Requirements: Experience reviewing and interpreting regulatory requirements and industry standardsConstruction estimator with a minimum of 5 years total related experience of which 3 years must be in Federal Government and mixed-use construction estimating role. Our estimators work primarily on negotiated and Bid Federal Projects within our core markets and work closely with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors. Knowledge to prepare detailed line item estimates using RS Means, Excel, software, Bluebeam or equivalent software Experience in Submittal Preparation, Review, and Management Process. Strong communication skills, verbal and written Ability to use Bluebeam take off or similar software Strong computer skills in MS Office(R) Programs to include Excel skills -Experience working with Government Contracts, IDIQ, MACC, SATOC, ETC Ability to work under strict deadlines is a must Ability to produce accurate estimates from conceptual and schematic drawings Bachelors/Associates degree a plus but not required. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and tools such as RS Means. Must have the ability to assemble a complete presentation-worthy estimate package that clearly communicates project requirements. Must have knowledge of unit cost/factors that affect cost and can prepare detailed instructions to bidders, trade specific clarifications and comprehensive bid packages. Must have experience with the bidding process: soliciting bids, communicating with bidders, evaluating subcontractor proposals, using bid tally sheets, etc. Should be prepared to participate and often lead the preparation and presentation of cost and budget information to the customer/owner. Must have experience being a member of the team involved in request for proposal responses (RFP's) and the formal presentation for a project. Able to engage and develop business with new and existing customers. Ability to identify, adapt to, and resolve complex issues. TravelTravel is required for the position of Construction Cost Estimator out-of-the-area and overnight travel is expected.
