Polaris Alpha, a Parsons Company, has an opening for aWide Area Network (WAN)Engineer supporting an integrated mission system at Naval Air Station Patuxent River. The LAN Engineer will provide hands-on network engineering in a lab environment to include network design, maintenance and administration. In this position you will be responsible for the maintenance and administration of computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations. The WAN Engineer will also be responsible for the research, requirements analysis, design, installation, troubleshooting, and support of local- and wide-area network hardware, software and applications. Qualifications: 5+ years experience working with network equipment (eg switches, bridges, routers, etc.) Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience. US citizen with at minimum a SECRET Clearance CCNA Certification Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II+ Certification (CISSP, Security+) Required Skills: Excellent written, verbal and customer service communications skills Experience with In-line Network Encryptors and network communications security Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware Ability to work in a collaborative, customer-facing and secure operational work environment Ability to self-direct and self-manage workload comprised of multiple, parallel activities with little to no managerial oversight Experience operating and maintaining the security posture of an information system running Windows and/or Linux operating systems Experience with Windows andLinux system administration Experience developing and maintaining network access controls Familiarity with drawings and contribute to documents that support cyber tasking (eg updating and maintaining network diagrams) Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware Desired Skills: Knowledge of and experience with virtualization Knowledge of and/or experience with containerization Experience with the administration and maintenance of Windows Active Directory group policies and users Experience using Microsoft Visio Experience with Cisco and Brocade switches Experience in Assessment and Authorization, Cybersecurity, Software Security Engineering or Software Security Testing Must be eligible to obtain and maintain, or currently possess Secret clearance.
