The Professional Development Manager will be responsible for staff development via assessment, development, and evaluation of competence about their role in the Acute Rehabilitation environment and works collaboratively with nursing and therapy leads. The Professional Development Manager will serve as an expert in clinical areas and serve as the liaison between PH&R, the Shady Grove Campus, and the Corporate Educational Team. The Professional Development Manager collaborates with organizational leaders and stakeholders to measure program outcomes and will be responsible for developing, overseeing and evaluating the following staff development activities:
• New employee orientation for clinical disciplines, agency, and travelers (Day 2 and on)
• Preceptor development and follow up
• Collaboration with the Campus Residency Program leaders
• In-service educational activities
• Planning and implementing access to appropriate literature and databases in planning, providing and evaluating patient care.

The Professional Development Manager will be responsible for promoting, developing and planning continuing education activities designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of staff, beyond basic competencies. The Professional Development Manager will also be responsible for developing, overseeing and evaluating the following continuing education activities:
• Key lead in a nursing committee
• Serves on System committees representing PH&R
• Identification of professional conferences which will enhance the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of staff.
• Certification courses for staff
• Advanced clinical practicums
• Partnerships with outside organizations that enhance the clinical staff's skills, knowledge, and attitudes, and also benefit the community
• Advanced learning activities designed to support the Clinical Practice Advance Program
• Development of an area of clinical expertise
• Serving as mentor/faculty/clinical instructor for students
• Leading and participating in professional organizations (nursing and non-nursing)
• Leading and participating in interdisciplinary teams, committees, and workgroups
• Leading and participating in Evidence-Based Performance Improvement Projects
• Leading and participating in Evidenced-based Research.
• Submits/participates in the development and management of NSPS grants with the State of Maryland

The Professional Development Manager will prepare the annual department budget, demonstrate leadership and professionalism, uphold the RISES standards with self, staff, and stakeholders, and actively participates in hospital/department goals and objectives.

Work Schedule:

The individual has a flexible schedule. A minimum of five days a week. May be required to come in on weekend for training.
