Facilities Management at the University of Maryland College Park seeks an expert to plan, coordinate, and execute mechanical projects. Duties include providing on-site coordination, monitoring, and inspection of contractor executed installations. Providing high level specialty services, including leading “ad hoc” project teams in support of HVAC infrastructure such as chillers, underground piping, large air handlers, HVAC piping and other equipment that requires special fabrication or temporary repair solutions. Performing specialist work primarily involved with the mechanical trade at the masters level.
Overseeing rigging and lifting, including review of OSHA submitted crane lift plans.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or High School education with an equivalent combination of education and/or experience required. Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience, or sixteen (16) years without a Bachelor’s degree, of progressively responsible field experience required in the HVAC trade for the mechanical installation and repair of equipment, including cross-functional experience encompassing refrigeration, ventilation, machinist, electrical, plumbing, and system controls. A minimum of four (4) years of mechanical project experience including planning, cost estimating, resource coordination, and overseeing contractor execution. Universal CFC certification required. Must have a valid Class “C” driver’s license or equivalent with fewer than 6 points. Supervisory experience preferred but not required.
SALARY/BENEFITS: Salary based on qualifications and experience. Position is Essential and subject to 24-hour/day, 7-day/week span of operation.
