Final work location to be determined based on placement In the US Management Development Program (MDP) at Hilton, we seek to select and develop the most talented and successful hospitality-focused students. During the program, applicants will have the opportunity to gain real world experience with the preeminent global hospitality company. Trainees will be placed within our managed portfolio of hotels where you will find incredible locations and supportive work environments to help jump-start your career at Hilton. What will I be doing? The Management Development Program is a comprehensive six-month development program. Our goal with the program is to prepare graduating college seniors for a rewarding career in hospitality as well as to train the managers of tomorrow. As a MDP, you will spend the first 6-8 weeks of your program participating in a general rotation through all areas and disciplines of the hotel to gain a full understanding of our business. The proceeding 16-18 weeks will then focus on a specific area of specialization. Specialization discipline choices may include: Finance & Accounting, Food & Beverage, Front Office, Housekeeping, Property Operations and Culinary. This full-time paid training program begins in March and July 2020 and offers a competitive entry-level management salary. Upon successful completion of the program, job placement opportunities at one of our participating hotels are available. MDPs will most likely be placed at our Big Box and High Revenue Generator hotels in fabulous locations such as: New York, Washington DC, Orlando, Chicago, San Francisco, or New Orleans. An overview of the areas of specialization is as follows: Finance & Accounting: Understand the essential elements and the importance of the global financial environment as well as full and complete compliance. This entails gaining a working knowledge of the development, maintenance and application of a capital budget. Apply the basic accounting classifications, measures and procedures used to record, track, reconcile and report all hotel revenues, expenses, assets and liabilities according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). You will understand the flow of information from initiation to the General Ledger (G/L) Entry. Learn Accounts Payable fundamentals, including managing vendor accounts, generating expense reports, processing payments, managing purchase order procedures and applying process requirements (approvals, authorization, supporting documentation, reporting procedures, etc.) to disperse fund. You will also gain a basic understanding of Accounts Receivable, including flow, billing (individual, group, etc.) and responding to inquiries. Gain a fundamental knowledge of the principles of the compensation system and the processing of payroll. In addition, you will understand the basics of inventory flow and controls. Food & Beverage: Understand the structure of the Food and Beverage team and how it supports the Hilton's vision, mission, and values. This is inclusive of recognizing the value of and learning to abide by all established brand standards and service guidelines. Learn the fundamentals of financial forecasting and analysis to ensure maximum productivity in the Food & Beverage Operation. You will gain full proficiency in the Point-of-Sale and Cashiering System. Discover the operational essentials of in-room dining and the refreshment center, if applicable. This includes acquiring a functional knowledge of the Catering and Sales function. Become proficient with food and sanitation safety standards. You will learn to manage the stock, inventory, maintenance, and sanitation of the Big Four service-ware items. Front Office: Understand the structure/organization of Hilton's Front Office team and how it contributes to the Hilton Vision. This involves understanding the significance and relevance of exceptional guest service and the fostering of guest loyalty. Gain a proficient knowledge of the property and the services available to all guests. You will achieve basic proficiency in the use of the OnQ Property Management System related to Guest Registration and Up-Selling. Gain experience with systems critical to the efficient operation of the Front Office. This entails learning the function and services provided by the Bell Desk, Door, Valet, and Transportation, as well as the Concierge and Executive level. Housekeeping: Learn basic cleaning and inspection procedures for guest rooms and public spaces in the hotel. You will understand what is important to guests and how the hotel performs in relation to their expectations of service and product quality. Learn how Housekeeping's performance is evaluated. Gain a working knowledge of the equipment and supplies used in Housekeeping and the corresponding safety measures taken to ensure a safe work environment. Learn to read and interpret reports necessary to the Housekeeping operation. Learn the processes and procedures of the Laundry operation. What are we looking for?The success in this role will demonstrate itself through the following attributes and skills: Fluently speaks, reads, and writes in English Problem solver, who can resolve issues effectively and creatively while maintaining a high level of flexibility, professionalism and integrity Dedicated self-starter with a work attitude that exhibits flexibility, drive, good judgment and dependability Critical thinking and both quantitative and qualitative analytics skills with the ability to use logic and reasoning to creatively identify the strengths/weaknesses of alternative and differentiated solutions, conclusions or approaches to hard problems Creative thinker, who works seamlessly Displays a positive attitude, loves to get involved and help, and wants to learn Visionaries, who are passionate about hospitality Collaborative teamwork that brings to bear positive partnerships with vendors and hotel Team Members To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience: College senior graduating in the Fall 2019 or Spring 2020 semesters, with a BA/BS Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, or a related degree Cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher Nine (9) months of previous work experience Willing and able to relocate Can work in the US without employment sponsorship It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions: GPA of 3.3 or higher Nine (9) months of previous work experience in the hospitality industry What will it be like to work for Hilton?
