MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLEAs a FEMA/Flood Study Data Analyst, the applicant will support activities related to the FEMA National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). In this role you will apply your knowledge of geospatial and mapping processes, AutoCAD, and technologies to floodplain mapping, emergency management and disaster related services. Our ideal candidate will have education and experience with geospatial analysis and mapping processes and GIS and AutoCAD software and technologies. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is wanting to pursue a career as a GIS Analyst or Scientist. JOB DUTIESConducts data gathering, conversion and analysis of GIS data and AutoCAD data for the creation of flood studies for mapping.Writes technical reports of findings utilizing Microsoft Office.Prepares data documentation or metadata for GIS Projects.Participates in client needs analyses.Coordinates and communicates with local communities on latest mapping products and software in-person, verbally, or through written communication. Produce agendas, data, maps, and related materials for various meetings; Ability to research key information from client and corporate databases and prepare consistent production files for flood mapping projects.Maintains continued knowledge of technology developments in the GIS field and use of GIS and AutoCAD software.Performs such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEB.S. or BA in Geography, Computer Science or related GIS Environmental Discipline, commensurate with hiring discipline. Minimal experience is required of incumbents with directly related Bachelor's Degree; no experience required with a Master's degree.SPECIAL SKILLSGood interpersonal and computer skills and capable of developing technical writing and communication skills. Familiarity with GIS technology and ArcGIS software packages preferred.Familiarity with AutoCAD preferred.Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc) in order to create Word Templates and Excel spreadsheets.PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONSCFM preferred but not required. OTHERAbility to travel locally, regionally, and nationally from time to time. Ability to process paper/electronic documents and operate computer equipment. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
