Description The Associate Director, Marketing works with the marketing team as a key contributor to successful marketing strategy through collaboration with stakeholders across the Council. As a member of the marketing team, the associate director will have a role in ACE's long record of success in advocacy and leadership, and help ensure the marketing team members are seen as experts in their field and thought partners throughout the Council while meeting association goals. The Associate Director, Marketing reports to Director, Marketing and supervises a staff of one Senior Specialist. As the major coordinating body for the nation's colleges and universities, our strength lies in our diverse membership of more than 1,700 colleges and universities, related associations, and other organizations in America and abroad. ACE is the only major higher education association to represent all types of US accredited, degree-granting institutions: two-year and four-year, public and private. Our members educate two out of every three students in all accredited, degree-granting US institutions. Essential Job Duties or Tasks : Provide thought partnership with the Director, Marketing to strategically guide ACE's marketing strategies Assist in bringing to market ACE's new peer-to-peer online learning platform, ACE ENGAGE, and adapting marketing for a successful launch and continued growth Assist in strategic marketing campaigns through planning, production, delivery, and reporting to ensure goals are met Work with Senior Specialists and Director to design and schedule emails to members and nonmembers using ACE's email marketing delivery system, ClickDimensions and Microsoft Dynamics CRM Devise audience segmentation to better tailor ACE's messages to various audiences, conduct market research on marketing strategies and ensure ACE keeps up with appropriate trends Conduct market research into competitors in helping inform new products, establish pricing models, adapt strategies, and "seeing around the corner" for ACE's future work Coordinate the marketing efforts for the Annual Meeting. Improve upon past marketing efforts to both encourage registrations for the Annual Meeting and user experience at the meeting to deepen the market penetration of ACE's programs, products, and services Participate in relevant working groups as required, which may include: Annual Meeting Marketing/Communications Working Group, Email Template Working Group, Organizational Health Working Group, etc. Thoughtfully work with staff to develop clear and concise performance and development objectives so that each employee understands his/her performance expectations Education/Experience/Specialized Knowledge and Competencies: Required: Possess a bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications; or equivalent work experience Have a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience Ideal candidates will: Have specialized, advanced knowledge and understanding of marketing, and demonstrate the desire and ability to increase their knowledge in order to be more effective Demonstrate strong work management skills with the ability to anticipate needs, prioritize, evaluate options, develop plans to complete work on time, and monitor progress to ensure short- and long-term results are achieved Foster a positive attitude and build trust and cooperation - both internal and external to the organization - with colleagues, stakeholders, members, and customers Communicate the strategic direction of the department in a manner that allows others to understand how they contribute Clearly and concisely expresses ideas, thoughts, and concepts through oral and written communication, using correct and appropriate grammar, organization and structure with the ability to interact with a variety of people across the organization Be able to work independently, but also as a team player, within cross-functional teams and to collaborate across departments within an organization Be knowledge (and/or, proven ability to quickly get up to speed) on the use of Microsoft Office 365, a constituent relationship management system, databases, and other technologies to develop and maintain communications vehicles (websites, intranets, social media platforms, etc.) Be adaptable and open to different ways of doing things; continually developing effective approaches to accomplish their responsibilities Support and act in accordance with final group decisions (even when such decisions may not entirely reflect one's own view) Keep manager and key people informed and up-to-date Desired characteristics for candidates include: Completion of a master's degree or equivalent work experience Interest in a long-term career in marketing and professional connections within the marketing field Interest in nonprofits, associations, and/or membership-based organizations Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Dynamics CRM or another constituent relationship management system, ClickDimensions or another marketing tool, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft OneDrive, and other technologies used to organize process and share data within organizations. Working Conditions/Physical Effort : While occasional teleworking may be possible, this position works in our office near the Dupont Circle Metro station in Washington, DC.
