Responsibilities

  • This a developmental position to a Waiter NA-7420-02 (PD# 1262) and Waiter NA-7420-03 (PD# AK079). As a trainee, develops skills and knowledge to perform duties of a Waiter.
  • Assigned progressively more responsible and detailed tasks in food and beverage service in the Club or other facilities, which provide dining room and/or cocktail service.
  • Assigned tasks and instructions including setting up work area with required place settings, silverware and condiments; receiving patrons and taking food and alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverage menu orders; providing table service in bar or dining room.
  • Participate in preparation of dining area for formal or banquet table arrangement; cleaning area after the function, disposing of soiled linens, china and glassware, etc.
  • Prepares sales checks and receipt of cash, or charge card; registering sales manually, or in cash register; and tallying cash receipts at end of shift.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • In accordance with Army Regulation (AR) 215-3, 2-15j(1): Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
  • A one year probationary period may be required
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check
  • Completed and signed DA Form 3433 is required prior to entrance on duty
  • Age Requirement: Must meet state/local age requirements of twenty-one (21) at the time of appointment if serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Appointment is subject to successful completion and favorable results of fingerprints, health assessment (physical), and Installation Record Checks to determine suitability for this position.
  • Physical Effort: Stands, walks, and stoops and stretches, usually for long periods of time, handling food and beverage trays and food containers, seldom weighing over ten (10) pounds.
  • Working Conditions: Work primarily indoors in areas that usually have adequate light and heat. Exposed to possible cuts, bruises, minor burns from ovens, hot liquids and food container. There is danger of slipping on wet or polished floors.
  • Mandatory Training: Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours annual refresher training.

NOTE: Applicants who qualify for the highest level (NA-03) will be referred to the selecting officials first for consideration. Those who qualify for the lower levels (NA-02 and NA-01) will be referred to the selecting officials to follow accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications for the Waiter (Trainee) (NA-01):
  • No prior training or work experience required.
  • Applicant must meet state/local age requirements of twenty-one (21) for the servicing of alcoholic beverage at the time of appointment.
  • Applicant must be able to follow simple oral and/or written instructions, and, prepare checks for patrons.Demonstration of the following work behaviors is desirable:
    • a. Courtesy and tact in serving patrons
    • b. Neatness and good grooming
    • c. Dependability
    • d. Clear speaking voice
  • SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions, and, an understanding of sanitary food and beverage handling techniques, and, an understanding of food preparation methods of menu items.

Minimum Qualifications for the Waiter (NA-02):
  • Possess basic math skills necessary to compute patron bills and make change.
  • Applicant must meet state/local age requirements of twenty-one (21) for the servicing of alcoholic beverage at the time of appointment.
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English.
  • SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Ability to follow oral and written instructions and prepare guest checks.

Minimum Qualifications for the Waiter (NA-03):
  • Possess basic math skills necessary to compute patron bills and make change.
  • Possess work experience performing the duties identified (i.e. set tables, taking food orders from patrons, placing food order with kitchen, receiving and delivering food and beverage orders from kitchen and bar, collect payment, clean tables, etc.)
  • Applicant must meet state/local age requirements of twenty-one (21) for the servicing of alcoholic beverage at the time of appointment.
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English.
  • SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of sanitary food handling and serving techniques. Math ability to compute checks and make
    change. Ability to recognize the signs of intoxication.
