This is an IT Specialist (System Administrator) position located within the Department of the Treasury, Departmental Office (DO), Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Intelligence Analysis, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis.

Responsibilities

Pursuant to 50 USC § 3024 (v), and with concurrence and consultation with the Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, this position is being established in the excepted service as an element of the intelligence community within the Department of the Treasury .

As an IT Specialist, you will:
  • Install, repair, upgrade, and maintain computer systems and infrastructure, including but not limited to, workstations, servers, network switches, routers, and cabling.
  • Develop, implement and enforce IT policies and procedures, including those for security, standards, purchasing and service provision.
  • Monitor network systems, including traffic, inbound & outbound queues, server metrics, storage space, and implement efficiency improvements.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and implement network security tools including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection services.
  • Provide systems engineering and technical support for the establishment, test, upgrade, and operational support of systems, network, workstations, and support equipment hardware and software.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service . One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Qualifications

Specialized experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following:
  • Experience working with Microsoft Windows server and Exchange routers, switches, and firewalls; or back-up solutions such as Powershell, Voice over Internet Protocol, Intrusion Detection/Protection (IDS/IPS) services, protocols, and standards; AND
  • Experience with the following: Windows Operating Systems (Window 7/10) & associated applications, JWICS, Citrix, NetApp, VMware and Virtual Desktop, or LINUX; AND
  • Experience managing computer accounts, privileges, and access to systems and equipment; monitoring network systems, including traffic, inbound & outbound queues, server metrics, storage space, and implementing efficiently improvements; AND
  • Performing system data management and protection (data backup, archiving, and data restores); AND
  • Configuring, monitoring, and maintaining Storage Area Network (SAN) hardware.

In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:

  • Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year trial period may be required.
- Must have, or be able to obtain and maintain, a Top Secret security clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI).
- Must be eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
- Must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
- Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
- Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
