The Senior Accounts Analyst in the Dean for Research Office provides financial and budgetary support to the Director, Finance and Administration, Dean for Research (DfR)/Biomedical Graduate Research Organization (BGRO), the Dean for Biomedical Education and his/her Director of Academic Affairs and Administration, Biomedical Graduate Education (BGE), providing the same support to over 30 different biomedical graduate certificate and degree-granting programs as well as all of the central operating accounts. S/he works closely with our Graduate Program Directors and coordinators, BGRO and Lombardi financial analysts, School of Medicine, and the Financial/Grants Managers within the GUMC. Reporting directly to the Director for Finance and Administration, the Senior Accounts Analyst has additional duties that include but are not limited to: Fiscal Management Acts as the primary point of contact for 30+ biomedical graduate programs and the BGE central office, completing all BAR reconciliations on a monthly basis to include running reports, analyzing data, and updating shadow systems.Works closely with program directors (faculty), administrators, grants managers, program coordinators, and BGE central staff in performing monthly analysis of account spending activities according to the BAR reports.Provides quarterly, semi-annual, and annual budget projections for various cost centers in BGE and prepares the 5 year financial planning process, as well as the annual merit and budgeting process as it affects those in BGE central.Manages the timely transferring of Lombardi program funds to Lombardi and monitors students activities in GU/NIH and Livermore program cost centers.Prepares all reports needed for the review of BGE cost centers and budget usage, assisting biomedical faculty and staff on BGE, GUMC, and Georgetown University financial policies and procedures.Notifies the Director for Finance and Administration and Director of Academic Affairs and Administration of significant financial transactions, deviations from budget including real, or projected deficits of any magnitude as soon as they become known.Takes necessary steps, in consultation with the program director, department chair, Finance and Administration and Director for Academic Affairs and Administration (BGE), to mitigate or eliminate real or projected budget deficits.Provides documented recommendations to mitigate or eliminate real or projected budget deficits. Budget Management Monitors the budget performance of all BGE cost centers on a monthly basis and compares to actual expenses.Develops the annual five-year fiscal plan for BGE in consultation with Director for Finance and Administration and Director of Biomedical Graduate Education.Assists the Director for Finance and Administration (DfR) and Director of Biomedical Graduate Education with the development of the annual budgets for all of the BGE cost centers.Generates and updates all BGE annual budget sheets, reviewing procurement transactions.Assembles and submits monthly and end-of-year accrual analyses.Ensures all BGE financial transactions are accurate and timely.Provides budget forecasting and reports as requested in a timely manner and be able to analyze the data.Performs other budget-related tasks as appropriate and as needed. Merit-Based Aid Works with Academic Program Assistants and Grants Managers across medical center sectors for BGE to verify that all students receiving merit-based aid are posting to the correct cost centers.Works with BGE staff and GUMC administrators on the follow through of the transfer of merit-based aid expenses (tuition, stipend, fees) to correct cost centers (such as funds 1701, 1702, 1802) on a monthly basis.Generates and analyzes reports related to merit-based aid. General Serves on University committees related to finances for BGE, as requested by the Assistant Director of Finance and Administration, Director for Academic Affairs and Administration, and the Senior Associate Dean for Biomedical Graduate Education.Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Director of Finance and Administration, Director of Biomedical Graduate Education, and the Senior Associate Dean for Biomedical Graduate Education.Generates crucial fiscal reports on a timely basis as requested. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance and business administration3 years of progressive work experience in accounting, budgeting or financial analysisQuantitative skills, including knowledge of finances and accountingExperience with Microsoft Excel, and Word; Banner; Cognos; PeopleSoft; and GMSExcellent analytical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skillsAttention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality of data and informationAbility to work congenially and effectively with a wide variety of personnel in a diverse environmentAbility to work with more programs in the future as Biomedical Graduate Education is growing in its graduate programs
