This position can sit in any Atkins North American office within the United States. Some ideal (but not required) locations for this person to sit would include the Washington DC area, Austin, TX, Los Angeles, CA or San Francisco/Oakland, CA. Atkins is seeking an experienced Senior Leader to support the Civilian Sector of Atkins Federal Business Unit, focused on the support to communities throughout the nation in mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery from events and disasters along with supporting multiple Clients and Contracts with program delivery. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Project and Program Manager that has experience in either the State or Federal level. Under general direction, manages complex and unconventional programs within a defined technical specialty. Typical projects might include mitigation planning, resilience planning, housing recovery, infrastructure recovery planning, federal grants programs, etc. Provides leadership, direction, and technical guidance to senior project managers and project managers within assigned area of responsibility to ensure that quality management andtechnical services are provided to clients and that operating performance targets are met. Mentors senior project managers and project managers associated with sophisticated and unconventionalJOB DUTIESProvide industry-leading knowledge and prominence to ATKINS' projects and initiativesSupport clients to formulate innovative solutions to resilience and recoveryProvide QA/QC functions and expert advice for complex projectsIdentify and support business development activities and proposal developmentFunction as a project lead and mentor to project teamsPrepare project work plans, develop project scopes, schedules, and budgetsDirect project team compliance with contract terms, schedule, budget and quality objectivesMonitor schedules, financial status of projects and quality control on projectsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in field of practice. Graduate degree preferred. Management coursework and/or MBA a plus.This level may be achieved by technical professionals or managers with twelve years of experience since BS or eleven years since MS, with at least three of these years in the Senior Project Manager position with highly complex project management responsibility.SPECIAL SKILLS Excellent technical and interpersonal skills, public speaking and persuasive ability; very strong financial management, team management, and leadership skills; ability to manage and coordinate efforts of various projects to produce budgeted profits and overall results. Possesses specific expertise to the extent that the individual is regarded as a regional or potentially national expert in a specific discipline, contract delivery method, particular typeof project, planning process, design method, or modeling technique. Personal computer proficiency is required.Demonstrated experience in supporting business development activities and defining new markets and services, strong existing client relationships a plus.Experience supervising multidiscipline teams with staff of varying experienceExperience interfacing with clients and proposing innovative solutionsFamiliarity with a wide variety of client types.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSGeneral Competencies expected of all Professionals and Managers are as follows: Client Service, Commitment, Communication, Innovation & Continuous Improvement, Professionalism, Quality, and Teamwork.
