GDIT is seeking a Biomedical Research Technician in support of the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Disease (USAMRIID). Since 1969, USAMRIID has served as the Department of Defense's lead laboratory for medical biological defense research, protecting the warfighter from biological threats and investigating disease outbreaks and threats to public health. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESParticipate as a team member in development and conduct of advanced laboratory studies related to or supporting clinical studies, assess study outcomes and analyze resulting dataParticipate as a team member in development and conduct of advanced laboratory studies related to or supporting clinical studies assess study outcomes and analyze resulting dataMost work shall occur in biosafety level-2 (BSL-2 conditions. Person is required to receive safety training and applicable vaccinations for performing tasks in BSL-2 laboratories)Maintain laboratory and office written records in a neat and timely manner. The use of a computer for processing, analyzing, and storing data is requiredPacking biological hazardous materials, such as serum samples, etc. that is collected at study sites and will be shipped to various parts of both CONUS and OCONUS, within the scope of the Code of Federal Regulations Most laboratory assays are performed under GLP conditions Proficient in GLP procedures and processes and will take GLP training periodicallyEnsure that monthly SOP reviews are current BS 2+Contract qualifications: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP or AMT) or eligible to sit for the exam within 1 year of employmentMinimum of a AS degree or postsecondary certificate or 50 week military program of Medical Laboratory Technician with 2 or more years of experience in a high complexity testing clinical laboratory or in a research settingDesired experience in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation and MicrobiolgyKnowledge of GLP workFamiliar with 42 CFR Part 493, CLIA and CAP standardsSufficient education and experience to understand the science in order to facilitate planning and execution of the projectProven experience meeting deadlines and standards For more than 50 years, General Dynamics Information Technology has served as a trusted provider of information technology, systems engineering, training and professional services to customers across federal, state, and local governments, and in the commercial sector.
