BASIC FUNCTION:Designing and creating comfortable and functional environments that represent client's lifestyle, taste and budget. Be a professional Design Consultant through the use of the La-Z-Boy In-Home Design program and drive top line sales through the use of selling principles including approach, rapport building, needs discovery, customized portfolio presentations, answering objections, closing, follow-up, after sale service, and continuing contact with all previous and potential customers. Strive to create long-term relationships that will lead to increased sales and profitability.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:In-Home Design:Schedule professional home consultations to present customized room designs, including sample fabrics, furniture, tables and accessory recommendations as well as the benefits of a professionalinstallation serviceExecute and champion the In-Home Design process per company guidelinesResponsible for creating grassroots opportunities to increase the overall performance of the In-Home Design ProgramAccurately complete order information, collect deposits and fees, keep orderly customer records, and research customer payments and deliveriesResponsible to support design related functions in the store and maintain an up to date customized portfolio including before and after pictures of previous In-Home design projectConsiderable independence is required for the In-Home Design processSales Culture and Promotions:Drive sales to consistently achieve established In-Home program sales goalTeam with Store Manager, Sales Manager, Sales Lead and selling team to promote the In-Home Design program and drive overall store salesMaximize store promotions, marketing initiatives, and grassroots programsMaintain strong knowledge of features and benefits of existing and new product lineMeet established goals as set by managementCustomer Experience Excellence:Meet and greet customers that come into the storeEnsure that each La-Z-Boy customer has an informative and positive experience by using good customer service skills and knowledge of productsMake sound business decisions to deliver customer satisfaction and promote team environmentPeople DevelopmentTrain, coach and develop Design Associates on product knowledge and selling skills to achieve store sales goalsAssist with training, coaching and developing the selling teamCreate a positive and exciting working environment for all store associatesHiring and developing talent, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talentUtilizes Company resources to keep associates up to date on product knowledge, selling skills and operational efficienciesLeads with the highest ethical standards and demands the same from their teamsEnsures associates are provided the necessary tools to perform job responsibilitiesCoach and counsel team based on resultsMaintain a positive working relationship with all store associatesStore Standards / Operations:Effective manager on Duty (MOD)Assist with maintenance of the overall visual appearance of store, this includes but is not limited to assist to maintain floor and/or showroom displays, tagging of products and accessories, maintaining accessory catalogs and design center fabrics, and maintaining general store cleanlineAdhere to general store operational procedures and guidelinesMay be responsible for opening and closing of the storeChampion and role model the La-Z-Boy selling process (Comfort Process) by overseeing the interaction with each and every client within the furniture galleryKnow what is happening on the floor at all ti Be willing and able to jump into every sale and close it.Show a sense of urgency, enthusiasm and excitement with the staff and customersOther duties as assignedMINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in Interior Design with one (1) to two (2) years' experience strongly preferred or a minimum of five (5) years design experience in a comparable home furnishings roleCIDA accreditation and/or ASID membership preferredPrevious selling experience strongly preferredProficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPointCAD training a plusExperience in using floor and space planning applicationsKnowledgeable of general principles of home decor and design (ie, furniture, carpet, draperies, and color schemes.)Excellent communication skills, customer service skills, and organizational skillsStrong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and build rapportAbility to effectively manage time and conflicting prioritiesAbility to work effectively and productively with others as a teamAbility to work the schedule and hours dictated by business needs, to include evenings, weekends and holidaysInitiative to meet assigned goals, missions and objectivesStrong attention to detailSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for directly leading a team of Design Associates and indirectly the selling team.
