Summary / Description We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented GIS Technical Support Engineer to join our team in Alexandria, VA, to begin an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems. Position Description and Responsibilities: Seeking a motivated individual to provide technical support for GIS professionals in the Department of Homeland Security. Candidate should have a background in agile software application support and a passion for learning new technologies and processes. Position requires that you are proactive, with strong troubleshooting skills and possess a genuine desire to help people. You will be expected to become an expert in our geospatial business domain and develop the capability to identify a wide variety of information technology issues. You will work closely with a supportive and talented team of engineering, training, and user support professionals. Requirements Required Skills and Responsibilities: - Undergraduate Degree and 8 years experience - Ability to communicate technical information, both verbal and written, to a wide range of end-users. - Initiative to follow up on outstanding requests and ensure timely resolution. - Strong customer service skills. Shift work required. Rotating on-call schedule. - Thorough understanding of ESRI's full product suite, Internet Explorer and browser plugins. - Ability to coordinate multiple teams from different departments to diagnose and identify causes of application and system failures. - Ability to facilitate and drive the resolution of system failures on conference calls or directly with the end user. - Troubleshooting skills to identify root cause of user reported problems for a dynamic intranet based web application. - Provide tier 2 support for mission critical GIS software applications, web sites and information technology infrastructure. - Handle help desk escalations through tickets, e-mail, instant messaging and phone. - Work with users on developing workflows for their needs and use cases. Desired Skills: - ArcGIS Enterprise, Portal for ArcGIS (ArcGIS Online), ArcGIS Earth, ArcPro and ArcGIS Desktop. - Coursework in Cartography/GIS software and concepts. - BMC Remedy. - Understanding of web services and system interfaces. - Experience working with technical teams to identify software application changes built into new releases. - Technical documentation experience. - Use of screen sharing technology and teleconferences to work with end-users to resolve problems. - Familiarity with web GIS concepts and creation of associated services from desktop products.
