Responsibilities

  • Develops solutions driven by requirements and supported by data to include statistical analysis, research design and decision support in order to improve decision making and business practices at all levels of the organization.
  • Serves as consultant and subject matter expert on Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) operations and health data analysis.
  • Provides healthcare analysis in support of senior level working groups in support of work associated with AMEDD strategic business and organizational planning, corporate metrics and benchmarking, patient satisfaction and project implementation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. For the GS-11:

Specialized Experience
: One year of specialized experience which includes proficiency in Military Health Systems Data in order to extract and manipulate healthcare data and ability to turn data into information for decision making. This work may have been performed in an operating healthcare facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

For the GS-12:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes comprehensive knowledge of Military Health Systems Data in order to extract healthcare data; demonstrated ability to analyze data and create briefings/presentation for decision making for senior leaders. This work may have been performed in an operating healthcare facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

For the GS-13:

GS 13 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying qualitative and quantitative methods to assess program effectiveness; developing policies for a complex healthcare structure and program objectives that affects execution of managed care principles and future direction of healthcare policies; expert awareness of characteristics of healthcare delivery systems and the Military Health Systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-12 and GS-13 positions, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

GS-12 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

GS-13 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Education
