The Broad Branch Road campus of Carnegie Science is seeking a qualified candidate for a position as a building engineer.? The position involves tasks of a skilled nature necessary for the operation, maintenance, repair, and improvement of campus buildings and mechanical equipment. This is an essential employee classification that requires the ability to respond to after-hour emergencies such as fire, flooding, severe weather conditions (including but not limited to snow and ice removal), power outages and other situations as requested. Required weekend and holiday building checks will be shared on a rotating schedule. This is a non-exempt position. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Five (5) years of general experience in Trades and Maintenance including two (2) years of commercial experience in building automation HVAC systems including chillers, cooling tower and boilers, Fire and Life Safety Systems, fire pumps, automatic transfer switches, monthly generator testing, electrical, plumbing maintenance, and minor carpentry. DC 3rd Class Steam Engineer license. CERTIFICATION and/or LICENSES Universal CFC certification. Trade license or other vocational training. Valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES Working knowledge of Siemens Building Automation Systems. Basic skills necessary to operate a computer for general day-to-day work and communications. Physical requirements include stooping, standing, climbing stairs/ladders, and ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs.
