Summary:The Maintenance Manager provides daily leadership and management of Maintenance Department at AlexRenew Water Resource Recovery Facility. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Plans, supervises, reviews, directs and coordinates the work of staff performing maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment plant, pump stations, facilities, buildings and grounds, large diameter tunnels and sewer lines, including mechanical, electrical and instrumentation and controls.. Plans, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of assigned staff; assists in selection of staff; reviews work for accuracy and compliance with department and regulatory standards; establishes individual staff, team and operation department goals.Ensures that maintenance and repair are performed in accordance with approved policies and practices.. Ensures safe work methods are followed and appropriate safety precautions and equipment are utilized; ensures safety meetings are conducted.Confers with supervisors, planners and engineering staff on technical problems; assists in integration and coordination of plant conversions, alterations and additions; meets with engineering staff, consultants and contractors in connection with these programs.Oversees the planners with coordination and preparation of estimates for equipment, supplies and installation and/or repair of machinery; directs requisitioning of supplies, materials and parts necessary for maintenance.Investigates improved maintenance methods, materials, supplies and tools; makes recommendations regarding changes to improve work productivity.Develops and enforces work standards and guidelines to be applied in maintenance planning.Researches and analyzes existing documentation and newly developed techniques.Studies and standardizes procedures to improve maintenance department efficiency, cost effectiveness and regulatory compliance.Reviews and prepares various control reports regarding project status, work projections, maintenance procedures and material use.Performs budgeting and forecasting activities; manages purchasing requests.Manage the AlexRenew Asset Management program, ensuring compliance with permit requirements; review planner analysis of preventive and predictive data for continuous improvement and cost efficient repairs and replacements; oversee asset/work order management software maintenance and upgrades and technology solution implementation.Oversee maintenance and data collection projects for asset/work order management program.Manage the AlexRenew Capacity, Management, Operation and Maintenance (CMOM) program, ensuring compliance and annual updates.Promotes and leads by example a strong sense of safety and safe behaviors embedded in daily work; serves as the AlexRenew backup Incident Commander.Reads and interprets plant drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams.Performs other duties as assigned or required. Qualification Requirements:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline desired.. Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician or other related professional designation preferred; or ability to obtain within one year of continuous employment required.Eight (8) years' of verifiable professional experience related to operation, maintenance and repair of sewage treatment plants or similar installations, including four (4) years of supervisory and decision-making experience.Knowledge of Virginia Pollution and Discharge and Elimination Systems (VPDES) permit and requirements. . Knowledge of current federal, state and local rules and regulations as they pertain to the operation of wastewater collection and treatment.. Knowledge of operation and routine preventive maintenance of wastewater reclamation facilities and equipment; modern wastewater treatment and reclamation principles and practices.. Knowledge of technical, electrical and hydraulic principles as they relate to the operations of a wastewater treatment system.Knowledge of the MS Office Suite and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software.. Position requires good communication and interpersonal skills, including strong team building skills. Must be able to communicate effectively both in writing and orally. . Knowledge of principles and practices of employee supervision including selection, training, work evaluation and discipline.Detail-oriented, proactive, adaptable.Ability to plan, assign and supervise activities of subordinate staff.. Ability to research and prepare complex reports.. Ability to respond to an emergency and problem situations in an effective manner.. Ability to understand, explain and apply policies and procedures.. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee performs work primarily indoors in a climate controlled environment, with outdoor trips between buildings and some outdoor work required. Some areas of plant are hot and humid at times.
