WHUR is looking for a Director of Engineering & IT. The purpose of this position is to provide technical guidance and support of WHUR-FM as well as all HD and Satellite channels. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIESHandle the installation, maintenance, and operations of all broadcast, IT and transmission equipmentProvide twenty-four hour on call service to the radio station.Responsible for station technical compliance with current FCC rules and regulations.Instruct and assist operators in the proper operation of broadcast equipment necessary for the operator to perform their required duties.Coordinate and supervise overall performance of engineering department.Ensure operations efficiency of the engineering department and related functions.Prepare monthly and annual departmental reports.Recommend the purchase of all electronic equipment (RF, audio ad IT).Provide planning support to the GM with respect to technical needs.Provide management of station IT infrastructure.Provide leadership and vision for the work unit.Contributes as a strategic member of the administrative leadership team.Provide strategic reports and recommendations to administration on the activities in assigned areas.Represent the department on university and community committees.Perform other job-related duties as assigned. CORE COMPETENCIESDemonstrated experience on FM and HD transmitters.Strong time management and project management skills with the ability to multi-task.Ability to provide on-call status 24/7 in case of equipment failureProficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Access and Excel; as well broadcast applications including Vox Pro, Adobe Audition, Audio Vault, etc.Knowledge of electrical systems, UPS, and generators.Effective leadership and management skills.Excellent communication and presentation skills.Documented success as an innovator and creative problem solver.Competence in oral and written English.Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate responding to emergency activities.Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious work relationships with staff, faculty, students, university officials and the general public. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree in Engineering or related field and minimum of seven years experience in radio or television maintenance with emphasis in digital and RF transmission and computers. SBE Certification desired.
