Responsibilities

  • Serves as a senior systems engineer on all software/systems engineering aspects relative to supporting the Branch Chief, Program Manager/Deputy Program Manager (PM/DPM) and Chief Engineer.
  • Serves as the system engineering expert for software applications and baselines used to support the Combatant Commands and the warfighters in critical and deliberate war planning efforts and applications.
  • Performs difficult technical assignments with respect to defining tasks, planning milestones, costing products, and resolving resource and schedule allocation needs.
  • Develops technical strategies, identifies new technologies, identifies opportunities for cross-program integration and plans.
  • Analyzes system operations and responses, limitations, ranges of variables and reliabilities.
  • Analyzes assigned problems in implementing design plans to resolve problems through the minor adaptation of accepted software techniques and/or identify the requirement for more comprehensive analysis.

Qualifications

Basic Education Standards:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

Specialized Experience:

For the GS-14, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-13 if outside the Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as experience with overseeing and participating in the development, testing, evaluation, modification, documentation and enhancement of service oriented architecture (SOA) based software.

Candidates must describe how their experience meets the specialized experience requirement within the body of their resume. Experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but must clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the competencies or knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position
