You will serve as a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (MARITIME) in the Joint Logistics Division of COMNAVSPECWARDEVGRU.

Responsibilities

  • You will serve as a Maritime Logistics Management subject matter expert that participates in deliberate and crisis action planning.
  • You will contact vendors, supply organizations, or partner units to obtain materiel status information and/or expedite delivery of materiel to required destinations.
  • You will secure and complete customs, hazardous material, tax exemption, and various other required forms in order to ensure multi-national regulations compliance and prompt transport of mission critical items.
  • You will coordinate contracting and budgeting operations including Program Objective Memorandum (POM) for resource allocation decisions.
  • You will conduct searches of catalogs, records, or other data sources to obtain or correct stock numbers or to find authorized substitutes for stock items.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Selectee may be required to travel or perform temporary additional duty assignments for approximately 30% of the time both inside and outside the Continental United States in executing assigned technical advisory or consultation duties.
  • Selectee may be required to travel on military or civilian aircraft or waterborne craft, deploy onboard ships, or serve at remote sites as required.
  • Selectee may be exposed to hazardous or hostile environments and may be authorized special/danger pay as provided by the Department of State, the Office of Personnel Management, or other agency regulations.
  • Selectee is required to report to the command when requested.
  • Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
  • Selectee must successfully pass a pre-employment physical.
  • Selectee must submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, upon entering the position and annually thereafter, in accordance with DoD Directive 5500.7R, Joint Ethics Regulation, dated 30 August 1993.
  • Selectee will, at a minimum, have constructive possession of weapons. Consequently, this position is covered by the domestic violence amendment (Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • Selectee must be able to successfully pass firearms qualifications to carry a weapon.

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.


Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing logistical program management support to include analyzing and creating readiness reports and statistical data; evaluating prepositioning requirements; AND contacting vendors and supply organizations to obtain materiel status information and/or expedite delivery of materiel.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

This is a Term Appointment NTE 4 Years. Term appointments may be extended up to 8 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations. Additionally, you may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent career-conditional or career appointment under specific conditions.

Work is performed both inside and outside in a well-lighted and ventilated area as well as outdoors in hot and cold weather. The individual is exposed to moving parts, machinery, grease, dirt, dampness, fuels, solvents, and severe weather conditions.
