The Society of American Foresters is seeking a Director of Membership. The Director of Membership is responsible for the management and coordination of all membership recruitment and retention activities. This position will examine all facets of membership and membership services to make strategic decisions about the Society's membership structure and develop value propositions targeted to the Society's various audiences. This individual will work with other departments (publications, education, accreditation, policy, state and local associations) to leverage their offerings to provide a valuable member experiences at all stages of the membership lifecycle. Working in conjunction with external vendors, this individual will develop new membership programs and services, suggest and executue special events and activities designed to raise the profile of membership in SAF throughout the natural resources and related association community. The Director of Membership will oversee two employees, the Manager of Member Services and the Operations Coordinator, as well as the relationship with our external vendor handling communications. The Director of Membership reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position. Membership Recruitment & Retention Develops and manages of the annual budget for membership recruitment and retention activities. Develops and implements strategic, targeted annual recruitment and outreach plans to increase membership and retain existing membership base. Conducts annual member needs assessment and develops programs and initiatives designed to enhance member engagement and add value for prospective and existing members. Develops and oversees execution of new member onboarding program to ensure engagement and understanding of member benefits and resources. Manages affinity programs and advertises the benefits provided to Society members. Oversees the development of special reports for use in managing membership and related activities. Oversees collection of membership dues and the overall dues structure. Manages the Manager of Member Services and Communication Specialist. Other May develop and implement sales strategies for sponsorship, products/subscriptions and set advertising goals and targets. Engages with members and potential members to identify issues and encourage participation in member activities including committees, teams, events, webinars and other related activities. Identifies new product and service opportunities in support of Member Services and develops proposals to present to executive management. Identifies organizations, events and other activities that could provide assistance with membership recruitment and retention.
