Job Description: Description SAIC is seeking a knowledgeable professional engineer to join the Space and Missions Group (SMSG). SMSG provides specialized program management, engineering, analysis and operations support to a variety of Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD) customers. You would support the cutting edge programs in national security-related systems based in space, in the air and on the ground. We are seeking an experienced engineer with technical understanding and practical application of radar sensors, RF systems, and phenomenology. This position will help develop, mature, and integrate current and nascent capabilities and algorithms over a range of applications. It is helpful if you have specific experience in overhead collection architectures with emphasis on exploiting signals of interest. You will investigate and advance change detection concepts for visualizing information to inform tactical decision making timelines. This position is available immediately and is in direct support to the community's space situational awareness mission platform. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Research and evaluate new emerging methodologies for data analysis to automate analytical model building and identification of patterns - Create algorithms and engineering tools for data processing and modeling and simulation - Advise the customer on data sets and sources to include assessment of quality and value - Provide quantitative estimates of radar system biases and performance accuracy - Assess node sensor coverage necessary to identify radar tracking changes across an entire network - Assist in developing and evaluating sensor collection optimization planning to achieve insights into radar tracking systems' correlation, modes, and techniques - Provide technical support to customer activities and programmatic processes - Develop documents and briefings to communicate work or study status; brief Government and industry as required Qualifications - BS in engineering or science discipline related to engineering, physics, or mathematics - Minimum of 6 years of related experience - Demonstrated experience in signal processing and algorithm design - Skills and knowledge in one or more of the following: RF engineering, antennas, coding, or signal processing - Experience with the Intelligence Community and/or the Department of Defense - Knowledge and experience with RF technologies, applications, and performance metrics - Superb technical skills and experience related to radar systems, RF sensors/subsystems, and associated signal processing methods - Strong oral and written communication skills - Ability to communicate very technical subjects to a diverse audience of senior decision makers with varying levels of technical expertise - 6+ years of experience creating software applications using one or more of the following: Python, C/C++, Java, VisualBasic languages; UNIX and Microsoft platforms; and Microsoft applications - Active TS/SCI with Poly is required Desired Qualifications - Advanced degree in engineering or science discipline related to engineering, physics, or mathematics - Demonstrated experience in developing new capabilities, methodologies, and processes to improve data extraction - Significant experience and knowledge related to visualizing and conveying information results - Specific experience with overhead collection - Experience with Space Situational Awareness (SSA) - General understanding of orbit theory, orbit determination, and SOSI systems SAIC is a premier technology integrator, solving our nation's most complex modernization and systems engineering challenges across the defense, space, federal civilian, and intelligence markets.
