Job Announcement

Partners with the Department of Neighborhood and Community Services' (NCS) Senior Facility Coordinator. Serves as the Facility Coordinator to ensure facility issues are resolved promptly and effectively. Serves as a liaison between NCS and the county's Facility Management Department, landlords and vendors. Coordinates resolutions to facility maintenance issues and assists with equipment acquisition and purchases. Assists in the coordinating and implementing of physical needs, maintenance, upkeep, and ordering of equipment for all NCS county owned and operated leased facilities in Fairfax County. In addition, provides limited support to all SACC sites (FCPS owned). Assists in the maintenance of all warranty information for NCS equipment. Maintains the NCS work order database and NCS fitness equipment inventory and appliance inventory. Assists unit with administrative duties. Effectively, collects and synthesizes information and data into useable reports . Assists in analyzing data and formulating recommendations. Assists in the procurement and financial processes for facility repair/maintenance issues, and other duties as assigned in support of the effective and efficient operations of NCS facilities. Assists with the coordination of the removal of damaged or excess furniture and equipment, furniture and equipment moves, and Fairfax County warehouse services.

Functional Areas: Landlord/tenant relationship management, facilities management (infrastructure maintenance), equipment inventory, appliance inventory, procurement and/or financial processes for facility repair/maintenance.

Please note: the salary will not exceed the midpoint of the advertised salary range.

Employment Standards

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area.

Four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Admin Assistant IV, or higher, level. This class can serve as a bridge class enabling individuals who do not meet the educational or professional experience standards listed above to qualify for this class by possessing four years of increasingly complex technical experience in the assigned functional area, comparable to experience at the Admin Assistant IV, or higher, level. The purpose of this bridge class is to promote upward mobility within the Fairfax County workforce. However persons qualifying for this class on the basis of their technical experience may not substitute this technical experience for education, or for professional experience, in order to qualify for other employment opportunities.

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a check of the Child Protective Services Registry, and a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.

  • Two or more years of increasingly responsible experience in facilities, or customer service.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to effectively communicate (oral and written).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently but within a fast-paced team environment.
  • Experience in an environment requiring multi-tasking and attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer skills in the use of various office computer software such as the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.

Work is generally sedentary in nature. However, incumbent may be required to do some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items up to 25 pounds. Ability to operate keyboard-driven equipment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Sufficiently mobile to attend meetings at various locations and make presentations to county staff and community.
