The selectee of this position serves as a Financial Management Analyst. You will be responsible for travel, relocation, conference, and other financial policies for the United States Marshals Service Headquarters and ninety-four District office organizations located throughout the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Responsibilities

As a Financial Management Analyst at the GS-0501-14 level, some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Serves as the agency subject matter expert on travel matters.
  • Investigates and analyzes a variety of unusual and complex financial problems.
  • Identifies inconsistencies between new and existing financial policies and practices and recommends practical solutions.
  • Performs systems analysis work and creates customized systems queries and develops customized reports.
  • Serves as the agency representative at external travel management meetings and provides advice and assistance to all levels of the USMS management on assigned travel program areas.

Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the next lower grade level).

Qualifications

GS-14 TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 grade level. (Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade. No award SF-50 will be accepted).

You may qualify at the GS-0501-14 level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

One year of full-time specialized work experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing duties such as: 1) Applying a wide variety of travel regulations, concepts, practices, rules, and processes; 2) Providing advice and recommendations on all aspects of travel, relocation, conference and other financial policies related to travel matters; and 3) Performing complex research and analysis to create financial reports.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience
