Freddie Mac is looking for a Development Professional (Database Integrator) to be part of Development Factory in Information Technology division. Development Factory is a centralized and self-sufficient group with technology experts from multiple area which undertakes complex migrations, rewrites and upgrades to support various business/IT initiatives. The Development Professional will be part of this exciting team to provide database integration / administration (DBA) support.

Your Work Falls into Four Primary Categories:

Integration:

Provide seamless database integration support to Factory lines by coordinating database activities such as builds, refreshes, upgrades and migrations with Database engineers, operations support DBAs, System administrators and other Technology Services counterparts
Provide application / development DBA support to Factory on multiple database platforms
Troubleshoot issues, provide recommendations in areas pertaining to databases and database interfacing components to development and test teams
Perform analysis on existing databases and identify changes required for Database upgrades

SME Support:

Provide database SME support to Factory and help Line Managers and Tech Leads in database areas for project planning and scheduling
Suggest and implement new RDBMS features that can result in performance or security enhancements

Collaborate with other team members:

Work with Architects/Business/System Analyst Teams to understand Technical/Business requirements
Work with Integration team lead in establishing database standards and procedures for Factory and document them

Communicate with Technology and Vendor Partners:

Work with RDBMS vendor technical support teams on advanced technical issues
Participate in technical discussions and provide recommendations or solutions

Qualifications

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of database administration experience in production or development environment.
  • At least 2 years of experience in supporting one of the RDBMS platforms - Oracle, Sybase, UDB (LUW) or Microsoft SQL Server
  • At least 2 years of experience with Unix/Shell scripting
  • Experience in database version upgrades and cross-platform migrations
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with DBMS specific tools for query/explain plans, database advisors, query snapshots, ability to understand them and troubleshoot the problems
  • Understanding of database interfacing technologies such as ODBC, JDBC and DBMS native clients.
  • Experience with job scheduling tools such as Autosys
  • Experience in supporting application teams in development/testing environments* Good trouble shooting skills, attention to detail

  • Multi-RDBMS platform experience
  • Experience / knowledge of middleware technologies such as WebLogic, WebMethods, Apache/Tomcat is a plus
  • Knowledge of / experience in programming languages such Java/C/C++/Perl
  • Certification in one or more RDBMSs
