Summary

The Assistant Director, Policy, serves under the direction of the Associate Director, Program Policy and Implementation (AD PPI), a component of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and heads one of four divisions in the Office of Program Policy and Implementation (PPI).

Responsibilities

As a Assistant Direct, Policy, you will:
  • Assist the in the overall policy management and development of OFAC programs, implementing economic and trade sanctions.
  • Direct and oversee interoffice teams in the formulation and implementation of policy papers and related memoranda with regard to the imposition of economic sanctions and trade embargoes.
  • Manage and direct of all operations of the Policy Division in leading and coordinating the planning, development, and implementation of the policies for U.S. sanctions programs.
  • Monitor legislative activity relating to OFAC programs to ensure compliance with U.S. policy.
  • Make major recommendations, decisions, and actions significant to internal and external sanctions programs affecting national security and foreign policy that are politically sensitive and/or controversial.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: [

- Managing the formulation, interpretation, and implementation of U.S. economic sanctions (as administered by Treasury/OFAC) policy papers, guidance, and related memoranda; AND
- Handling multiple projects for major office or program issues of broad impact; AND
- Performing work that involves analyses, comprehensive program reviews, and development of cross-agency activities.


In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- A one year probationary period may be required.
