The mission of the Academies of Loudoun is to empower students to explore, research, collaborate, innovate, and to make meaningful contributions to the world in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The Academies of Loudoun is comprised of three academies:
• Academy of Engineering & Technology (AET)
• Academy of Science (AOS)
• Monroe Advanced Technical Academy (MATA)

Teachers at the Academies of Loudoun must be ready to deliver advanced academic content and quality instruction to students who have made a commitment to a challenging STEM program. They should also be willing to continually plan and develop curriculum in a highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed in relation to the position. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate:
• Teaches, supervises, advises and evaluates Pharmacy Technology students both in both clinical and the classroom environments.
• Meets and instructs assigned classes and prepares lesson plans.
• Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
• Coordinates shared responsibility for co-curricular activities.
• Participates in the development and growth of the health and medical sciences program in the following career preparatory areas: radiology/imaging technician, pharmacology technician, clinical technician, and laboratory technician.
• Participates in student organizational program activities.

Qualifications

Below are the qualifications for this position:
• Associate• s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• Holds or is eligible for a Virginia Technical Professional License in Health and Medical Science
• Two years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician
• Virginia Pharmacy Technicial Examination Certification OR Nationally Registered Certified Pharmacy Technician OR Certified Pharmacy Technician
• Current CPR healthcare provider
• Knowledge of Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) curriculum related to assignments and School Division mission, goals, and organization
• Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
• Skilled in the use of multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning
• Ability to plan and implement lessons based on Division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents
• Strong collaborative, communication, and presentation skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies. Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

A person in this position reports to the Principal and/or Assistant Principal

STATE REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure with endorsement(s) required for teaching assignment(s).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty(ies) to which assigned; knowledge of pre-adolescent and adolescent growth and development; knowledge of Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) curriculum related to assignments and School Division mission, goals, and organization; ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; skill in the use of multi-media and computer technology to enhance learning; ability to plan and implement lessons based on Division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned; ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents; skill in oral and written communications; excellent human relations skills.

Teacher Salary Scale

Position is 7 hours per day. Position is exempt.
